Hospital beds
We rent and sell home hospital beds. These are electric adjustable beds whose standard size is twin extra-long: 36” x 80” mattress. They can be used with special therapeutic mattresses which can help prevent skin breakdown and bed sores. They also come with sturdy half rails or full rails that bolt on to their metal bed frames. The beds and their accessories can be seen below.
Insurance: Health insurances will often pay for a semi-electric bed (never a full electric one or a long term care bed), if a physician or nurse practitioner provides a prescription for a hospital bed along with chart notes stating why you need the hospital bed. The most common qualifying reason is “to manage pain” but can be “COPD, Aspiration problems, or Chronic heart failure”.
Long Term Care Bed
- These are full electric beds that are more similar to beds you’ll find in a hospital. They have a greater range of motion and caregiver controls.
